Facial Contouring and Liposuction
If your facial features aren’t as well defined or youthful as you’d like them to be—whether it’s because of aging or simply due to heredity—you may want to consider facial contouring with liposuction. Some of us are just born with rounded features. And as we age, everyone experiences the downward pull of gravity on our skin and underlying fat tissues, along with a loss of skin elasticity. The result can be jowls, a “double chin,” and an overall sagging look.
The facial effects of aging or genetics tend to become more noticeable over time. Good nutrition, consistent exercise and a healthy diet can help to maintain a younger look. But liposuction provides a minimally invasive means of targeting this area and creating a sleeker, younger-looking profile.
What to Expect with Facial Contouring through Liposuction
With liposuction, fat is broken up and removed through a very narrow tube (a “cannula”) that’s connected to a suction device. Only tiny incisions are needed for inserting this tube, usually in the crease underneath the chin (for neck liposuction) or sometimes behind the earlobe or in the mouth (for the cheeks). Facial liposuction is typically performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia and takes only about an hour, unless it’s being done in combination with other procedures. Because the incisions are so small, there’s minimal scarring.
